Shady Grove is excited to welcome author/illustrator Chris Soentpiet
and author Yin as our guest author/illustrator in residence on May 30,
2008. Both Chris and Yin are winners of
numerous awards for their books which deal with multicultural issues.
Chris Soentpiet was born in South
Korea. At the age of 8 he and his
sister moved to Hawaii when they were adopted by the Soentpiet family.
Chris
studied Fine Arts and Education at the Pratt Institute in New York City.
Yin grew up in New York City and studied
finance in college. She gave up a
career on Wall Street to manage her husband, Chris Soenpiet’s career, then went
on to become an author in her own right.
